Preacher's Daughter is the debut studio album by singer-songwriter and record producer Ethel Cain. It was released on May 12, 2022, through her independent record label Daughters of Cain. The album was entirely written and produced by Cain, with assistance from Steven Mark Colyer and Matthew Tomasi on certain tracks.
Preacher's Daughter is a concept album with a narrative that centers on fictional characters, exploring themes such as family trauma and sexual violence. It was inspired by the artist's personal life as the daughter of a deacon. Sonically, it experiments with Americana, dark ambient, and elements of several other genres. Cain was inspired by mainstream artists Florence Welch and Lana Del Rey for her vocal performance on the album. It incorporates predominant Southern Gothic imagery with religious and American aesthetics.
